Ash & Aimee: The Great South American Soul Search
Aimee & Ashley are two extraordinary women that we were fortunate enough to have as clients recently. We worked with these two ladies to help them find the parts of Argentina that would come together to facilitate the soul searching trip they were in need of. As many itineraries do, theirs began with a dream.
They were in search of a trip that would take them through a variety of spectacular locations that they could explore fully - sometimes with the assistance of a local guide and sometimes on their own. They explained their desire for great hiking, delicious food and having the chance to connect with nature and we were able to connect them with places that we knew would fulfill these dreams. From the capital city of Buenos Aires to the southern tip of Patagonia and onto the vineyards of Mendoza, this itinerary was the backdrop to their Great South American Soul Search and we couldn't have been more thankful they chose us to be a part of it!

“There are some New Year’s resolutions that are common: get in shape, save money, volunteer, find a new job—for me, 2013 was the year I vowed to go to South America. After living and traveling extensively in Europe for a year, I felt comfortable with my nomadic self and confident that I would love exploring Argentina in the same manner. That’s where Above the Clouds stepped in and crafted the itinerary of our dreams.
We had a general idea of the places we wanted to venture in the country and Above the Clouds took our rough ideas and created a beautiful finished initerary. Lisa from ATC knew exactly what cities we would love, what hotels we would not want to leave, what restaurants would serve the best meals and what activities were must-dos.
We spent a stress-free and easy two weeks in Buenos Aires, El Chalten, El Calafate, and Mendoza. I can still see the beauty, feel the air and hear the sounds of these magical places. Our guides became friends and the value of our memories is incalculable. Not a day goes by where I don’t long for the feelings of freedom, love and living that were all-consuming to us while there.”
Itinerary Overview:
Day 1: Arrive Buenos Aires and transfer to hotel. | Day 2 & 3: Two days to explore the capital.| Day 4: Fly south to El Calafate, where you'll be met and transferred the short distance to the El Chalten, where you'll arrive in time to do an afternoon hike. | Day 5 & 6: Two full days in El Chalten to hike and explore the trails and mountains. | Day 7: Morning spent doing a short day hike and by afternoon transfer back to El Calafate for dinner and overnight. | Day 8: Fly to Mendoza, met upon arrival and transfer to the estancia resort in time for late dinner. | Day 9 -11:Three full days (partially with a guide and the rest without) to make your own wine, try the food and wander among the vineyards. | Day 10: Transfer back to the airport for your onward flights.
